Regent Seven Seas Cruises’ excursions assure cultural and historic learnings. There is a style of excursion to suite just about everyone.
There is much to learn and experience on this itinerary in addition to the wildlife on the ocean and on land.
Back in the 1880’s steamships carried tourists to this area to explore and enjoy its unspoiled natural beauty. Visitors then and now marvel at pine trees as tall as skyscrapers, humpback whales, eagles, wild salmon, black bears and more.
Each port of call has its history based on memorable characters or events of the time. For example, the former name of Vancouver, “Gas Town” was influenced by “Gassy Jack” Deighton, who built a saloon there. Juneau carries the name of Joe Juneau who with his fellow miner Richard Harris discovered nuggets as large as beans in what is now called “Gold Creek”.
This voyage ends in Seward, created as a terminus within the Alaskan Railway. It is situated in a backdrop of six mountain ranges and two active volcanoes.
You will love it!
