Viking’s Heritage of Firsts — Expeditions

Curiosity and wonder continue to drive us today. Building on Norway’s maritime legacy, Viking continues to innovate, first inventing modern river cruising, then reinventing ocean cruising, and now perfecting expedition cruising.

Viking invites you to experience the comfort and elegance of their award-winning fleet with expedition ships  built specifically to explore the world’s most remote destinations and allow you to immerse yourself in these regions.

Viking will introduce its first expedition ship in 2021 followed by a second in 2022. Their expedition ships, Viking Octantis and Viking Polaris. will be carbon copies one to the other. Their passenger capacity will be 378.

Ask us about Crystal Cruises Expeditions in its luxury yacht, Endeavor. Board it for an adventurous and immersive expedition marine and land explorations of nature, thunderous waterfalls, flora and fauna, history and indigenous, disparate cultures of  South America, the Antarctic, or France.

Arctic Adventure

Sail from Tromsø to the western coast of Svalbard and experience the stark beauty of the Arctic, where polar bears reign and blue ice floats serenely on the horizon. Here it is silent and still one moment, a cacophony of migrating birds, barking seals and calving glaciers the next. From this northern archipelago of frozen tundra, dramatic fjords and remote human settlements, you will witness this world awakening from winter slumber to a land of midnight sun.

From the Arctic to Antarctica

Traverse the globe from the far north to the extreme south on this ultimate journey. Start in Norway’s northernmost town and sail past rugged peaks and quaint fishing villages to Scotland’s Shetland Islands and Ireland’s shores. Next, cross the equator to arrive in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires and then travel on to the “Last Continent”—to be amazed by pristine nature and wildlife few will ever see.

Great Lakes & Canada

Discover natural wonders: from outstanding beauty to historic cities and a deep connection to nature, the Great Lakes are an undiscovered treasure, boasting stunning national parks best explored via tranquil kayaking and hiking. This area is also rich in culture, with world-class museums, vibrant cities and areas steeped in First Nations traditions.

“Viking’s new expedition fleet will offer dedicated expedition teams onboard, along with a fleet of zodiac rafts for explorations ashore. Both ships will also offer a wide array of accommodations; a scientific laboratory onboard; faux outdoor firepits; and three temperature-controlled swimming pools, with indoor and outdoor options.”
